• The project continues to wind down with minimal impact areas. The most significant impact area will again be the sidewalk on the east side of Elm between Adams and the alley (south side of Adams). This sidewalk and basement area is being reconstructed. This work will impact the entrances to Miracle Ear and La Grande Dry Cleaning.
• Finish work continues on the new accent wall on Adams near Sterling Bank.

Project News
• The project is expected to completely wrap up on Friday, Nov. 30. This will be the final weekly project update. Planning for an end-of-project celebration is underway; stay tuned for more details! The City of La Grande thanks the community for its patience and perseverance, especially the downtown businesses directly impacted by the project.
• New street trees continue to be installed throughout the project area this week.
• The installation of the new pedestrian lights throughout the project area continues this week and the lights are expected to be fully operational after the sidewalk work on Elm is completed. It is possible that some of the lights on the north side of Adams will be operational this week. The contractor will also continue installing street signs.
• Contractor continues working on minor “punch-list” items.
• REMEMBER! Please do not use chemical de-icer products on any of the new concrete! The use of these products will destroy the concrete. Non-chemical substitutes, such as kitty litter or sand should be used instead.

• The installation of the new pedestrian lights throughout the project area will continue this week and the lights are expected to be operational the week of Nov. 19 in time for Thanksgiving.
• Contractor continues working on “punch-list” items including cleaning the fronts of buildings throughout the project area.
• All concrete needs to be protected long after it is initially installed. Cold weather is the harshest season that can damage your concrete. To avoid unnecessary damage you should not use deicers as a method of dealing with ice. Deicers will cause the concrete surface to flake and peel. It is recommended that kitty litter or sand be used for this since it is harmless to the surface of the concrete. Property owners are responsible for maintaining and replacing damaged sidewalks and avoiding surface damage will protect your investment and prolong the life of your concrete surface.

• The alley between Elm & Depot behind BELLA and Mt. Emily Ale House is now OPEN.
• The alley between Elm & Depot behind Sterling Bank will be partially closed for approximately two more weeks.
• Access to the alley on the east side of Elm by Furniture West will be closed for approximately one more week.
• The sidewalk on the east side of Elm between Adams and Jefferson will remain closed for approximately two more weeks.
• The sidewalk on the north side of Washington between Depot and the public parking lot will be closed for the week, but should reopen by the weekend.
• Finish work will continue on the new accent wall on Adams near Sterling Bank.

• In order to minimize construction impacts during the upcoming holiday shopping season downtown, the project to reconstruct the alley approaches throughout downtown (outside of the Big H area – to include Fourth, Chestnut, Fir, Greenwood & Hemlock between Jefferson & Washington) has been delayed until Spring 2013.

Work this week is again the same as last week and includes sidewalk & building basement work and alley reconstruction work. Some finish work remains on the new wall near Sterling Bank on Adams.

There will be closures affecting both alleys between Depot & Elm and the alley near Furniture West on Elm. The sidewalk is closed on Washington between Depot & the public parking lot and on the east side of Elm between Adams & Jefferson. Travel lanes on the east side of Elm may be temporarily closed.

Travel lanes on the east side of Elm may be temporarily closed. All other sidewalks and parking areas in the project area are reopened.

Work this week includes sidewalk & building basement work and alley reconstruction prep work. New benches, trash cans & planters continued to be placed throughout the project.

Travel lanes on Elm between Adams & Jefferson in this area will be temporarily closed as well. Alleys between Elm & Depot will be partially closed. All other sidewalks and parking areas in the project area are reopened.

Again this week there will be miscellaneous finish work throughout the project area and alley reconstruction prep work. There will be no project work on Monday, Sept. 3 due to the Labor Day holiday. New bolt-in amenities (benches, trash cans & planters) are being placed throughout the project.

Concrete work will occur on the north side of Adams near Sterling Bank and on Washington between Depot and the public parking lot. Pedestrian ramps will be finished on Jefferson.
