Arbor Day and Arbor Week

Arbor Day is America's National Tree Holiday, the day we set aside to plant ceremonial trees, educate children about the benefits of trees, and honor the important role trees play in our daily lives. National Arbor Day is celebrated the last Friday in April.

In addition to National Arbor Day the Oregon State Legislature has decreed that the first full week in April shall be designated as Oregon Arbor Week.

The City of La Grande Celebrates National Arbor Day and Oregon Arbor Week every year with tree planting events, the Trees are Terrific poster contest for fourth and fifth graders, the Tree City USA presentation and community forestry volunteer awards.
